What is a good herbal tea for bodybuilding?
Q. I was wondering if the big name corporate teas are as good as some of the smaller companies' products. I heard some companies process out some goodness or potency out of herbs by the way they dry, pack, and store the herbs and tea leaves. I am looking for the best quality teas for good health, particularly natural bodybuilding (without steroids). Thank you for your help.

A. "Green Tea" on its own. Won't help you in buidling muscle but will give you a good dose of antioxidants which can get rid of free radicals and make you feel better. If you want to drink tea, that would be the best option for you.

What are you thoughts about bodybuilding for competitions?
Q. I know someone who is into bodybuilding and wants to compete on stage. Some say it is a sport, but some don't think it is right to show off your body like that. What do you think?
Asked by - Thu Mar 25 21:12:40 2010 - Other - Sports - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. There is no harm in showing off what one has worked so hard to achieve, if people are interested and willing to pay money to see it. Personally, I body build because I love the muscle. I love the way my muscles look and the way they feel, on the inside and outside. I love the pump, especially a biceps pump. I love showing off by wearing tank top shirts and shorts. I am not that big at all but compared to "normal" people I am. But I am not interested in the dieting, posing, tanning, and other disciplines that pro bodybuilders go through, not to mention that most of them use steroids to get that big and hard. Whether bodybuilding is a sport or not depends on your definition of the word. A true sport is decided by the athletes on… [cont.]

A. Hi Jose, the one thing you definitely don't want to do is over train your muscles. I'd recommend working out each muscle group no more than twice a week. This will prevent muscle damage and allow sufficient time for your muscles to heal and grow. Here is a sample routine you can implement Day 1 - Chest & Cardio Day 2 - Biceps and Back Day 3 - Cardio and Abs Day 4 - Triceps and forearms Day 5 - Traps and Shoulders Day 6 - Legs, Abs and cardio Day 7 - Rest This is the basic routine I personally use with very good results. What I do to mix up my routine is have an arsenal of different exercises that I can perform for each muscle group, that way each week I pick 3 out at random for each muscle group and go from there. Generally I'll do 3… [cont.]

What exercise routine is the best to build muscle for bodybuilding?
Q. What is better to build muscle for bodybuilding, to start with the maximum weight that you can do and take off little by little? Or to start low and increase in weight? Also how many reps and sets should I do? Should I keep the reps and sets high or low?
Asked by - Sat Nov 28 19:19:25 2009 - Diet & Fitness - 4 Answers - Comments

A. Hey Jose try lift as much as you can doing 3 sets of 8-10 reps. Generally when i workout I do sets of 10,8,8. If the weight is too light you're not really working the muscle, and therefore not promoting muscle growth. I replied to your other post: "How can I make a bodybuilding weightlifting routine?" with my personal routine, that should help you get started. :)

What is the best combination of supplements if you were bodybuilding and only had $50/month to spend on them?
Q. I've been bodybuilding for a year now and I made some dramatic progress thanks to non steroidal supplements such as whey, creatine and l-glutamine but I also found that it was easy to spend over $100+ dollars. Times are tough and I really have to limit my budget to $50 but I'm finding it hard to choose between what to keep and what to get rid of.
Asked by - Tue Feb 1 21:00:35 2011 - Diet & Fitness - 1 Answers - Comments

A. I would say stick with the protein, unless you feel you can hit how ever many grams a day you take without it. Then creatine would be your best choice, luckly its relatively cheap, and due to cycling (assuming you take monohydrate) you wont run out fast. I'm not sure where you get your supplements, but Bodybuilding.com and superhealthcenter.com are a whole lot cheaper than going to a GNC. I would highly recommend them. Good luck and keep it up!

Why do bodybuilding magazines choose to act in an unethical way?
Q. Why do bodybuilding magazines choose to act in an unethical way? By promoting steroid use and obsessive exercise.
Asked by UberSik - Sun Aug 31 02:04:28 2008 - Other - Business & Finance - 1 Answers - Comments

A. i'm not sure that they overtly promote steroid use, but as for the excessive exercise - they are body building magazines man, what do you expect? there is a market for it, the magazines fill the desire for people who like that kind of thing. i don't think the magazines are a primary contributing factor in pushing people towards being muscle bound mutant freaks. it's some brain aberration or something, like anorexia.

How hard is it to maintain a bodybuilding body?
Q. How fast would you "deflate" is you completely stopped exercising? Is a bodybuilding body harder to maintain than the body of guy that goes to the gym but is not a bodybuider ( let's say a boxer) ? Thanks
Asked by - Wed Jan 13 09:13:11 2010 - Diet & Fitness - 4 Answers - Comments

A. What? You don't deflate, if you stop exercising you will just put on weight and if your not eating right then your body will eat your muscle.

What happens when you quit bodybuilding?
Q. I'm trying to gain weight and i'm going to start going to a gym soon. I'll be going to that gym continuously for 6 months. But I've heard that when you stop bodybuilding, your muscles turn into fat soon. Is this true? What if I continue exercising at home with some push-ups and sit-ups and that kind of basic exercises?
Asked by - Mon Oct 31 09:43:19 2011 - Diet & Fitness - 4 Answers - Comments

A. In practicing any sport your fitness will decrease after 3 days to 2 weeks without practice. it's not detrimental, but it would be lame to start working out and suddenly stop anyway. so the thing you said about continuing at home is a good idea, but don't be too self conscious about what's fat and what's not. just keep practicing a sport and you should be good.

Q. I work out every few days and i have tried a lot of different lifting routines. Right now i lift 4 sets at 8-10 reps. I am strong and ripped but not "big." Also, what is good bodybuilding routine?

A. well the bottom line is... if u want to gain more mass you have to be eating alot more calories..a bout 20x your body weight in calories... and u have to be lifting heavy.. 4 - 6 reps a set. and u would have to focus on more powerlifting exercises, bench press, squats, deadlifts, etc that is more powerlifting exercises... u need to do a combination of both.. and workout hard.. 40 - 60 mins 4 - 5 times a week eat 1.5 grams of protein for each pound u weigh train each muscle once a week mon chest tue biceps triceps wed back thur shoulders fri legs

Are there any special qualities a judge looks for in the teen division at a bodybuilding contest?
Q. I'm entering a bodybuilding competition in a few months, in the teen division. I'm 19 -or at least will be by the time the competition rolls around- so this is most likely going to be my last (and first) chance at entering this category. So I was wondering: are there any details a judge is especially interested in for the teen class? Would they rather see good symmetry rather than size? How important is conditioning? I'm 5'7'' and my contest weight will probably be around 143.
Asked by - Fri Jun 5 18:35:18 2009 - Diet & Fitness - 1 Answers - Comments

A. I trained Mr.Teen Illinois and Symmetry is very important. If you can build Size in all areas that would be great. Symmetry, symmetry, symmetry. Smile. Have a killer routine. We would spend 2 weeks on the routine. Flex a lot. You want your poses to look effortless not straining. And have fun. If you are having fun the judges will too. Hold your poses. Don't be to quick with them. Hold for 2 seconds longer than you think. When on stage people have a tendency to rush through their routine. Make sure you practice your routine. Don't wing it. Good luck. TMontana

A. Hey Jimmy, different bodies react differently to different methods and supliments etc etc. I know youve probably heard this a million times before that there is no magic powder that will create results over night. However creatine retains water in the muscle and therefore acts as leverage to accomplish heavier kilos. It worked wonders for me, i took as it in the morning, before bed and just before a workout. Drink shitloads with it and you should feel some difference. Tribulus was another sup that i really noticed 'feeling' change. It boosts testosterone and will give you extra grunt. It is extremely important to have lots of protein powder. You can buy tubs of whey protein at health shops or GNC. have as recomeded on tub in morning, after… [cont.]

A. These are just the basics, for more in-depth facts research online. Protein Well, it's kind of hard to be completely accurate in answering this question because it kind of depends on what kind of bodybuilding you want to start doing. If you're looking to building a lot of muscle/really get into the sport then you're good with what the other guy said, just a little lower. You need about 1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight. You need so much because in short, protein is made up of amino acids, which are the building blocks of your muscles. If you aren't going to be getting into that much, then just about 1 gram per pound of bodyweight is good. Carbs Depending on how you lost all your recent weight, you may hate or love carbs. I don't… [cont.]
